An - Italian aviator, Comte Diguelli, arrived by the Orontes, bringing a Farman biplane that the Comte lent to the British Government for instructional purposes, in Australia for'a period of four years. This fact is a significant indication of Italy's war attitude.

Meat exporters complain of losses on private contracts through the requisition. They are advised that the Imperial 'Government will favorahlby consider applications for- compensation for (cancellation of contracts made with Allied countries.
BELGIAN GRATITUDE. London, March 25. The Belgian Relief Commission is grateful for Australian help, which will enahble. it to purchase thousands of tons of food. 'Nevertheless destitution is increasing, and it is expected that two and a half millions will lie entirely dependent on charity/ before August, and the remaining four and a half millions reduced to rations.
The Department has definitely decided that none of the officers of the permanent staff shall be allowed to go to the front.
Tinder the Trading with the Enemy Act. the Iligh Court has appointed a controller of the Australian Metals Company. Mr. Justice Duffy, in endorsing the appointment, said he - had decided nothing, except that, the majority of the shareholders happened to i) ( . Hermans, therefore the comany was carrying on mainly for the benefit of enemy subjects. He did not suggest that the company had done or would do anything wrong.
