THE WAR CORRESPONDENT,

It is understood that the advisory committee who went through the names of the applicants for the position of Government war correspondent have recommended two, from whom the Cabinet will make a final selection.
BLOCKADE OF GERMAN TRADE.

A Gazette extraordinary issued today contains an ,Order-in-C'ouneil which sets out that in view of the German blockade no merchant vessel which sailed from the port of departure after March 1 will be allowed to proceed to any German port: no merchant ships which sailed from German ports will bo allowed to proceed on the'voyage; every .ship carrying goods with an enemy destination or origin may bo required to discharge such goods at Britisb or allied ports. Any person interested in such goods (not being contraband) placed in custody of tlie marshal of the. Prize Court may issue a writ against the proper officer and apply for the restoration of the goods in accordance with the practice and procedure of the Prize Court.
