DISTRICT NEWS.
WAEEA. (From our Own Correspondent.) The local sports club hold their final meeting on Saturday night, there being a fair attendance. Mr S. Hale (president) presided. The nominations this year arc very good, both in chopping and running events. The nominations' are as follows:—Maiden Mandicap chop, 12in., 10; handicap chop, 12in., ]«; Warea Axemen's Cup, 15in„ 14; Handicap chop, 12in., 17; Double Hand Serving (two cuts), 4. Running events.—loo yards hand Van 11 nominations; 220 yards handicap, 13*; 440 yards handicap, 12. The nominations this year arc far better than in other years, and, givn a fine day, the Relief Fund ought to benefit by a number, of pounds. The weather the past week has been wet and good growing weather, but it is now too late to do any good to the milk supply, which is going down every day. A fairly large tangi is being held at Puniho just now. An old age pension Maori named Hardwood died there the other day. The hall dance in aid of the Belo-hn Relief Fund is to be held on the *i3tli April, not the 10th, as mentioned in my last notes.
