Mr. Denham, in a policy speech, referring to the relations of Capital and Labor, said he did not like the .professed''friends of the wage-earner when they affected to regard 'the capitalist as their deadly enemy. He did not mean to aid them in abolishing or harassing the capitalist. lie would impel the captalist to larger undertakings, cm ploying more hands under better conditions, and would endeavor to secure for Labor the largest share of the product compatible with fairness. Sweating, under-pay, excessive toil and insanitary conditions must be uprooted like deadly plagues. Encouragement of production would be the Government's first care.
