MEETING OF COMMITTEE, A meeting of the blast bind Bathing lteserve Committee wits held on Monility evening, when Mr K. C. .1. llellringcr prc. c idcd over an attendance of about twenty-six members.
Several accounts were passed for paynient, and il. was decided that nil aecoinits must be sent in every month. The name of Mr (■!. Lambert was added to the committee. A vote of thanks was accorded to the Mayor (Mr J. E. Wilson) for a donation of two guineas. Some discussion took place in connection with the baby slum to he held in connection with the Easter Carnival, and it was decided that it be divided into two clashes, viz., 0 months and under, and from I) to IS months-:. -Additions to the programme were also made, including an obstacle race on the river, pillow fighting on a boom, and an American pony race. During the day a donation liv Mrs Ewing will be auctioned in aid of the Belgian Fund, The Kast End tug-of-war team was selected as follows:—Messrs Bennoek, W. Hardwiek, ,T. Heller, T. Smith, S, Stroud, A. Miine (coach), ft was agreed to request Mr 1-1. Whittle to act as judge and Mi' .1. Bennett as lime-keeper.
It was also decided to procure medals for each member of the winning team in the physical drill competition, in addition to the team cup. A:-nigemcnts will be made to procure more pohutukawas to place in the reserve.
The Borough Council will be asked to metal the road before Easter, and to supply more kerbstones as they become available.
