COKRESI'OXDENCE. ACUICUETI KAL IXSPECTOK'S REPORT.

The agricultural inspector's report was received as follows.—Un the section at Kitzroy the boys have continued ploughing during the last month, except when circumstances, such as bad weather, etc, prevented, of the boys have shown marked improvement upon their first efforts.

It iias been suggested to me that the plough we use is too heavy for the boys; but, in my opinion, this tends to make them more careful with the driving, a most important part of tiie work.

The ground latterly lias considerable paspalum in it and is very tough. It will be interesting for boys to see how the ground works up and also future results

We have limed a certain part in preparation for a piece of lucerne, and also clover. We had hoped to have had these in ere this, but circumstances have prevented us. We hope to have a variety of crops in soon. I must again report kindness on the part of local farmers to assist me. Mr. Sampson,, of Bell liloek, is letting us have some inoculated soil for the lucerne, Mr Lock, of Smart Road, seed drill, etc., and I do not think we could have had a better pair of horses for our purpose than tko-o so kindly placed at our disposal by Mr. George Colson, of Fitzroy. So far as indoor tuition is concerned, we are continuing in the direction of giving the boys a grasp of tlie theoretical principles underlying agriculture, and proceeding further in our study of plant biology anil elementary chemistry. DIRECTOR'S HE PORT.

Tlie director's report was received as Jollows. —At the beginning of the monttt the evening classes resumed with somewhat small numbers.

Mr. Skelton, assistant engineering instructor, took up duties on the first of the month. 1 should like the permanent assistant commercial instructor to be appointed as soon as possible, as the temporary instructor wishes to be relieved.

I beg to recommend the purchase of four or five new typewriters. ' With regard to the additions to the buildings, which I suggested at the last meeting, I beg to suggest that in the meantime representation should be made- to the Department with a viewto hiring some room or hall. It is practically impossible to use trie tent during the present rough weather, and other classes are also much overcrowded, f think the Department would agree to pay the rent of a building. At Tnglowood the supervisor, Mr. Stratford, lias advertise,! class,.* in dressmaking, cabinetmaking, art, and first aid and ambulance.

C,YSY.V.Ah. The statement of accounts in connection with the Princess Chrysanthemum concert showed a net return of £H 1-s lid.
