APPALLING CONDITIONS IN ARMENIA. STRIKING BRUTALITY OF THE KURDS.
London, March 22,
Appalling accounts of the condition of Armenia have been received from the Armenian Bed Cross Organisation. The plain of Alishgard is covered with the bodies of men, women, and children in, frozen pools of their own blood. Women and children half alive creep from beneath corpses and the ruins of houses. When "the Russians retreated the Kurds shut up everybody in the mosque and killed the men after making the women and girls go through untold agonies They were stripped and stood against a wall while the Kurds selected those they wanted. They then placed them on horses and took them away. Those resisting were mercilessly beaten. One hundred and twenty thousand are destitute in the Caucasus.
