Mutton.—The market is firm, with a fair demand; the stocks of mutton on hand are lisrht; North Island Od per lb, ordinary quality a%d. Lamb.—The market is firm, with an upward tendency; there is a good demand for prime quality; other than Canterbury 7%d for best quality, second grade 7%d, fores Cd, chilled hinds S"4d, foreg 5%d.

Butter. —The market is not quite so firm; Danish 146s to 14Ss, New Zealand 142s to 143s and occasionally 1445, Australian 138s to 1425, Siberian 132s to 1365, Argentine 13us to 138s. Cheese.—The market is firm, but the demand is only moderate by the trade generally; it is on account of the requirements for the Government that the market remains firm; Canadian 94s to 965, New Zealand 93s to 945, Australian 90s to 9ds, United States 80s to 90s.

Hemp.—The market is firm and prices have advanced owing to advices from Manila indicating an unsettled position, shortage of freight, dry weather, and disorganisation owing to the now regulations regarding- grading. New' Zealand good-fair grade per ton £33, fair £3' i; fair current Manila £37 10s; a forward shipment of Anril to June New Zealand good-fair realised £33 Iss, fair £3l 15s: fair current Manila. £39. The oufput from Manila for the week amounted to 23,000 bales. Wheat.—The market is quiet but firm on account of Government purchases; Canadian, per quarter, 645; American (Ms; Argentine 625. Oats.—T'i e market is firnl, 'With an improved demand; New Zealand short (sparrowbills), ex granary, per quarter of 3841b, 3m. 1

ELUI'AM AUCTION MART REPORT.

Messrs King and Stibbs report as follows on their weekly sale held at Eltham on Saturday, the 20th inst. We had a record attendance and practically every line offered found a buyer. Pigs, weaners, 7s; better class, 13s. Poultry: Hens Is to Is 6d; cockerels to 9s; ducks, Is 6d and Is 7d. Fruit: Apples, 2s Od to 3s; pears, 3s 3d to 3s 6d; tomatoes, 2s 6d to 3s; according to quality; cucumbers Is Od; quinces 3s 6d. A large quantity of furniture was offered and found ready sale at prices satisfactory to the vendors. Sundries offered also found competition.
