ROBBERIES AT WANGANUI.
3URIXC ENTRY INTO BOARDING HOUSE. ; MIXED SCRIMMAGE. , By Telegraph—Press Association. . Wanganui, Last Night. Two robberies were reported to the police during Saturday night. In the fiTst case an old man from tho country came to town to spend a holiday. He started off by drinking more than was good for his wits. He "chummed up" with two men, who offered to take him to a boarding house across tie river. The sequel was that the men went thrugh liis poekuts, and took eight pounds. The second case occurred in a )boarding house where a man was awakened at midnight by finding three men in his room, one of whom dragged away his coat from under the pillow. The robbed man raised a great noise and awakened tho. household: In his excitement lie smote in the eye. one man whom he evidently thought was a .robber. In return he received a black eye. The police arrived and restored quiet. The coat was found in the yard, but a purse * with £8 12s was .gone. There is no trace of the offenders.
