A VALLEY OF THE DEAD. AX APPEAL FOR HELP. TERRIBLE COXDITIOX OF THE WOUNDED. Received March If, 11.30 p.m. London, March 10. Citptain Bennetts. Red Cross Commissioner in Servia, sends an urgent appeal for iielp. tic describes L'skub as a valley of the lead. There is horrible overcrowding in the hospitals. jSix doctors and twelve orderlies, without nurses, are attempting to attend to ISOO sick and wounded. Half the doctors and orderlies are since dead or stricken down, and the patients are dying of septic poisoning, because their wounds are undressed. Scores of doctors and fever nurses arc wanted. The Servians are doing their best for the prisoners, but out of T.'iO in one camp only twentyfive are able to stand and >ixtv are dyin;r daily. There is nobody to remove the 1 d<-ad.
When a stranccr enters the silence of the camp is broken by moans, "For the love of God, give us water!" or •Tor God's sake, give us bread!"
