THE KARLSRUHE GONE.
CAN IT BE TRUE? Received March 18, 11.15 p.m. Copenhagen, March 18. It is reported that an explosion sank the Karlsruhe at the end of 1914 on the American coast, and that a supply ship saved nearly 200 of the crew. LOSS OF THE FINGALL. London, March 18. The Fingall sank in a few minutes, after a tremendous explosion. The first boat got clear, but the second, containing the victims, failed. The boilers burst as she foundered. BRITISH VESSEL SUNK. IN DUTCH WATERS. Received March 19, 1.25 a.m. London, March 18. Reuter's Sluis correspondent reports that tlie German submarine T. T 2B stopped a British steamer to the leeward of the Maas lightship and placed bombs aboard. These failed to sink her, and the submarine was compelled to return and sink the steamer, after working for an hour. The crew was landed. Submarines vainly pursued the Britiish steamers ! Avocet and LestriS to Dutch waters.
