MUSIC AND THE INDUSTRIAL CLASS i:s. In an epistle which appeared in the Auckland Press, it says:--'-The most recent light shed by psychical research 011 music is quite fascinating and calculated to arouse the greatest entim^ia-'m amongst all classes of the connnunitv. ] It seems that the objective of music is to inspire and .stimulate various activities, physical, mental and spiritual. A good deal of instrumental music is intended to elevate (lie industrial workers and inspire them. This is the design that psychic students have discerned behind the origin of music, In future our workers, agricultural, and otherwise will be able to look at music from this aspect, an aspect which is indeed calculated to make one feel grateful to the giver of all life, for His encouragement, for of all classes of workers, we think the agriculturist requires stimulating to give of his best efforts. We trust that our community will take thi.s matter seriously and in future do all in their power to develop 11;;; sic ill their midst. The advent of I'.r ■>, Jan, and Miscliel Cherniavsky, the werld famous viblinist, pianist and 'ceili.i should be used as an impulse to give the necessary enthusiasm to the idea. We should consider it a sacred duty that devolves upon us, to bid a hearty welcome to all great artists that visit us in the future," Let us be determined to give such a stirring reception to these wonderfully 1 git tod artists that the enthusiasm j aroused may tend towards inducing oth.er great artists to visit our town.
