During 1913-14 Her- ■ mand drew £104!), though he was entitled to a salary of .C2OOO per annum, plus expenses; or approximately .'CiiOOO, instead of £11)4'.1. At the tinie of the ; smash in August, the books showed that it had not been drawn, and th -re was a balance of £17,(100 to nermann's credit. The case for the defence has closed.
