At a meeting of the City Council tonight it was decided to endorse the resolution passed by Runanga Borough Council protesting against the inaction of the Government in connection with the regulation of the prices of foodstuffs. At the annual meeting of the Otago General Laborers' Union to-night amotion was carried calling on the Government immediately to deal with the increased cost of living as affecting the workers. The casual worker had been called 011 and had responded in many cases in a wdiolc-hearted manner, and it now became the imperative duty of the Government to safeguard the'worlter and mitigate the heavy toll taken from him by the enhanced cost of the actual necessaries of life.
