The Australasian Coal and Shale Employees' Association, representing an amalgamation of the coalmining unions throughout the eastern States, h been launched. Later it is pro Dosed to extend its activities to AVestralia aiul Xew Zealand. The whole of the South Coast mines are idle to-day to enable the men to discuss the arrest of a number of wheelers for non-payment of fines, and also other grievances. The position is regarded as critical.
