Luckily a policeman on point duty at Wellcsloy Street realised what was hapi pening, and he managed to bring the car to a standstill. The driver of the. : ear was arrested, and was driven to the police station in his own car, the serv vices of a chauffeur from the taxi-stand near 'by being requisitioned to take him ; to the lock-up.
