THE REDEMPTORIST MISSION.

I^B GREAT RELIGIOUS FERVOR. ' St. Joseph's Church was the scone, of great religious enthusiasm during the past week. Large crowds assembeld in the sacred edifice thrice daily, attracted I by the burning words and soul-searching . sermons delivered alternately by Fathers , Roche and Grogan, of the Red'emptoriat Order. The preachers placed before the minds of the audience the great eternal 1 truths in all their naked simplicity and t majestic grandeur. These truths', the~ basis of all sound theology, were made to stand out like lofty mountain peaks in a landscape, and evidently had a soiilsnbduing effect upon the devout and . faithful worshippers presence. Sin and f its offspring, death, judgment, heaven, . and hell were all in turn the subjects of powerful and profoundly impressive ser- • mons which came from the heart and went to the heart. / On Thursday a special celebration was held in honour of the Most Blessed- Sacrament of the Altar. The High Altar .' was tastefully and elaborately decorated ■ . for the occasion with a superabundance . of choicest flowers and evergreens. Tim sermon on the Real Presence was a inas- ' terpiece of chaste eloquence befitting the sacred subject. On Wednesday the Feast of St. Pat- , rick, the patron of the Irish nation, and 3 of sea-divided Gael, will also have a special and appropriate celebration which will bo of a wholly religious clmractcr 1 on account of the Mission. Members of . the Hibernian Society in full regalia and members of the congregation will ap- '" proach the holy table in a body at the s : \, seven, and nine o'clock masses. In 1 the evening a special discourse on St. / Pal rick and the Church he founded will . he. preached by one of the missionaries Doubtless not only the sitting capacity, . t but even the standing capacity of St. 1 Joseph's will be severely taxed on this festive occasion.
