W At the inquest on Noel Mercer, aged "" three years, who died under an anaesthetic at the hospital yesterday prior to an operation, Dr. Roberts, who ha'd held a post mortem, said that lie bad found two conditions present, either oneof which could have caused death. The ■first was status symphaticus, which could not have been diagnosed during the life of the child. The second was a collapse of the left lung. He thought the is latter condition was the cause of death, ,il- ami it could not have been foreseen or prevented. The Coroner found that irs death was due to pulmonary collapse, ay the result of vomiting when under the of influence of an anaesthetic, rendered neer- cessary for urgent .and immediate operation.
