FLORAL DISPLAY.
AT VOGELTOWN SUNDAY SCHOOL. The hard-working committee of ladies at Vogeltown have good reason to congratulate themselves on th e success of the display held in the Vogeltown Anglican Sunday school building, in aid of the building fund. The building would he too small to permit of a liower snow being held, but the interest evinced in this attractive display of floral collections should encourage the committee •of ladies to make it an annual function. Mr. S. YV. Shaw had ajnagnificcnt collection of asters and 'double sunflowers (Helianthus). Mr. J. 11. Frethey, of Frankleigh Park, had a fine display, including roses, cactus dahlias, cola'rette dahlias, delphinium, African marigolds, Michaelmas daisies, an<[ gorbera. Miss Pelham's stand included dahlias (cactus and colarette) and a fine collection of pelargoniums. Among Mr. G. W. Browne's display may be mentioned red gum, dahlias, fuschias, tobacco plant (nicotiana), nhlox and antirrhiniums. Mrs Aldridge had a fine collection of pot plants, including palms, asnaragus springeri and Australian ferns. Numbers of bunches of flowers were sent for sale, whilst th n produce stall, which was presided over by Mesdames George Neal and Eva, was loaded with every class of vegetable, generously donated by residents of the locality." The stall did good business. So, too, did the afternoon tea stall, in charge of Miss Putt, assisted by Misses 11. Browne, Gordge and Symons. All the cakes, etc., for this were donated. The large tea marquee, too, had been loaned and erected by Mr. S. W. Shaw.
OITILDRiEN'S FLORAL COMPETITION'S There were a few competitive classes, for children only, to give the yowi" folk an interest in the show. These filled exceedingly well, and som e very promising work wa 3 shown. The judges were airs. R. Cock and Miss Dcvenish, and they- awarded the prizes as follow: Button holes, girls unu>r 10: Rene Ifolden 1; Alma Hardwicke 2; Mary Ifardwicke 3. Button holes, girls under 12: Myra Aldridge, 1; Rita Bridgeman, 2; Jean Ilealy, 3. ■■. ■" -j^*lg| Button holes, girls over 12: EiUen Browne, 1: Winnie Gcrdge, 2; Marioric Aldridge, 3. i Button holes, boys over 10: Ken-j neth Ncal, 1; Willie Berridge, 2: Hector Holden, 3. Vases: Winnie Gordge, 1: May Berridge, 2; Eileen Browne, 3; Myra Aldridge, h.c. Decorated Tables: Mav Berridge, 1; Winnie Gordge, 2; Ruth Eva, 3; Eileen Browne, h.c. A special prize, awarded bv Mrs Cock for best decorated table by girl under ten, was won by Rene Holden. There was a good attendance both in the afternoon and evening, and the financial results should be satisfactory to the committee, which comprised Mcsdames 0. W. Browne, Geo Seal, Eva, Aldridge.
