MR JEKKIXGS BUSY. When in Wellington on Wednesday last, Mr Jennings, M.P. for Taumarunui, brought forward a number of [matters of interest to settlers before various ' Departments. The Hon Mr Merries, Minister for Railways, stated that stock yards, etc., at Kopaki and Waimiha stations would be provided shortly. The Minister for Public Works stated that £7o(i for Marangae block roads had been issued to the engineer, as well as £l5O for Marangae bridge. Full reports had been aslU'd for in connection with requests from Ohura County Council. Telephonic connection between Tatu and Tahora had been referred to the Post-master-Central us well us a request for improved postal and telegraphic facilities at Mature and Otungiwai. The stoppage of work- at Okahukura tunnel and dispersal of qualified and competent men, thereby causing a serious delay in completion of works, has been brought under notice of the I'rime Minister by Mr Jennings, who reminded Mr Massey of his promise to Ohura County Councillors and settlers over two years ago that the tunnel would be completed in less than three years. The member lias been informed that so soon as accounts are adjusted between the Government and the contractor and his sureties, work will be resumed.
