His Excellency the Governor has reeoived_ acknowledgments of various contributions which have been forward,"! to London in connection with the British and Belgian relief fund. Up to the present a sum of £37,357 has teen transmitted for Belgian relief and £28,042 for the poor of Britain and Ireland. The Belgian Minister writes:—"l shall ye obliged if you will kindly convey to the Governor and to all the 'kind donors my most grateful thanks for the continued help, which is so deeply appreciated by my suffering countrymen and will ever be remembered by them.". The treasurer to the Prince of AVales' Fund writes:— "His Royal Highness was extremely gratified at receiving this sph'ndid addition to the fund and wished me to write you a fecial letter asking you to make known to the subscribers how warmly his Royal Highness appreciates the generous support which lie has received from New Zealand."
