I MONTIiI.-Y REPORTS. The ri-jsorU to In- Mibmiitr.l .'it the meeting of tlic Borough Council to-night are as follows: — EXIiiNEER'S REI'HUT. Streets. -The metalling of Coiirtenay street is now complete between Liardet street and Cover street. Footpaths.—The following footbaths have been re-tarre;!:—.hiwiUvbim nlveet ?0«tll side between Robe street and Dawson .street: Robe street wesi, side between Powderham street and Vivian street; Devon street south side between Silver street and Dawson street. Other footpaths have been repaired and are ready for re-tarring.

. Waterworks. —The caretaker reports everything satisfactory at. the filters. Buildings.—Permits have heen issued representing a value of .CiMIS, Eleven permits have heen issued for moving back verandahs. Baths. —The total attendance at the baths for the month of February has been 3-JSB, and the receipts £2! Street*.—Jfotiiroa road: The whole of. the old metal has been removed between Bayly road and the r.rhvav cross in;? and the formation and" grading is progressing satisfactorily: Victoria road: Approximately 30 chains of the road has been regraded and -2!) chains nictalled. Cutlield road: Formation is progressing satisfactorily. T. and RParkin's contract for delivering fiOOft cubic yards nf boulders at the crusher site is nearly completed. The Fitzrov town ball is now being moved to its new site. Kerbingand channelling.—Devon street: The kerb in the central portion is now set back- except at I v > points where the new kerb strikes the line of th.> old kerb: at these places the new kerb cannot be put down until the old is removed. Iline street: Kerbing and channelling is progressing satisfactorily. Weymouth steer? is being kerbed and channelled from the railway crossing .to St Aubvn street. Oeneral.—The total working staff in my department is eighty men! ELECTRICAL ENGINEER'S RETORT. Mr If. Black, electrical engineer, reported that the remainder of the poles had now come to hand.. The poles'supplied under this contract were very satisfactory. A consignment of cross arms required for the transmission line had just been received. The river had been low during the past month, but as wmo water was available from the new intake (here was ample for present requirements when working at the old level. Line work for the month had been mainly moving poles to new kerb line and alterations to requirements of tramwavs.

CLERK OF WORKS iiEI'ORT,

slr 11. L. Hogg, clerk of works, reported. on progress of work on contracts No. 5 and No. li for the week ending February 27. Contract No. 5. The concrete work to rear wall of car shed is now completed and up to height of window sill in repair shop. All the foundation blocks of carshed are in ami a portion of the wood framing erected. The concrete work to pits is complete and ready for the rails and sleepers. The work is being carried out very satisfactorily. Contract No. fi.—The concrete work is now carried up to window sill height on f.iardet, street frontages. All other walls to height of five feet, excepting wall dividing machine and transformer room, which is now under progress. The strong room foundations and floor have been placed and vent in floor put iu position. The form-work to stairs in repair shop is complete and a portion has heen tilled with concrete. Satisfactory progress is being made.
