A MINISTER RESIGNS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 5, 8.55 p.m. Sydney, March 5. Hon. Carmieliael has resigned his portfolio, for reasons that are understood to be purely personal. No question affecting the policy of the party or the Government is involved. Mr. Holman stated that the resignation came as a great surprise. Cabinet had failed to persuade Mr. Carmieliael that the situation did not justify the retirement. Mr. Carmieliael refuses to make a statement.
