Austro-German newspapers admit that it is only a question of time before Constantinople succumbs. It is reported that all the available guns arc going to Constantinople from all parts of Turkey, and the best troops have been hurried from Syria and Armenia. A Constantinople message states that Halef Bey, President of the Chamber (if Deputies, announced that the Ottoman troops lmd exhausted the Russian army in the Caucasus, crossed the Suez Canal, and having fulfilled their tasks had returned and were perfecting their positions. They would shortly release Egypt from the tyranny of the enemy and drive the British out of Asiatic Turkey. The bombardment of the Dardanelles had been without result. Probably the enemy would not come through the strait, but if they did they would find the greatest part of the 'Turkish army gathered there.

Another message states that Dicmal Pasha has been recalled from Egypt to supervise the defence of Constantinople. The Daily Mail's Copenhagen correspondent reports that news has been received in Berlin that the Turks are very short of big gun ammunition and that the Austrians are rushing supplies to Constantinople.
