FIRES.
FREEZING WORKS DAMAGED. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Kapler, March 4. The North British Freezing Works was the scene of another fire early this morning. The outbreak started in the offices, and spread to the frcezei\ The former was totally destroyed, and the latter so seriously damaged that it will need rebuilding. About 13,000 carcases of mutton were destroyed. Fortunately a \light easterly breeze was "blowing, otherwise the whole of the structures would have been razed. FATAL HOTEL FIRE. Nelson, March 4. The Royal Hotel, a tlireestorey wooden building in Bridge street, owned by Dodson and Son, E. Cann licensee, was gutted early this morning. The flames in the back portion spread rapidly, and some of the had only time to escape. Later~on a" "boarder, Frederick Bloomfield, aged 57, a native of Australia, was missing, and his charred remain? were found on the floor Joists. The insurance on the hotel was £6OO.
