SWIMMING.

HI'GH SCHOOL SPORTS. esterday afternoon was not an ideal day for swimming sports, but there was a good attendance at the. .Municipal Baths to witness the .School annual sports. Though somewhat boisterous outside, the conditions within the shelter of the baths were not unpleasant. There was big competition in all the events, some of which ran into ten heats, hut the organisation was so good, the lads being always on the mark to schedule time, that the lengthy programme was concluded well ahead of the allotted time. Mr. A. It. Ryder. as starter, despatched his "fields" like clockwork. The judges, Messrs A. E. Sykes, R. 11. Itockel, A. McHurdv, and li. 11. Stohr, were kept 'busy all the afternoon, but no fault could be found with their decisions, though they had some close finishes to adjudicate 011, a tribute to the work of tho handicappers, three boys from the school, namely, Sykes, Bruce and Monteath. Mr. Greiner was timekeeper. The committee responsible for the successful management of the sports were: Messrs Balham, Diprosc, Ryder. Bottrill, Searle, Hamblyn (masters), Sykes, Monteath, Atkinson, Bruce, McMurrav, Oliver, and Yates (scholars). Mr. Schwartz, custodian of tile baths, gavA a fine exhibition of fancy swimming, and also rendered valuable assistance in other ways. Following are the detailed results:—
