ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A YOUTH DROWNED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Yesterday. Jas. Cadman, aged 18, was drowned at Orakei Bridge, in the Waitemata Harbour, yesterday afternoon. The water was shallow, and Cadman went out a distance o{ a hundred yards. Ke suddenly disappeared, and was not seen again. The body was recovered at midnight. A mark above the left eye indicated that Cadman had dived anl struck one of the stakes, with whbh the vicinity abounds, thus being rendered unconscious.
A BATHING FATALITY, Carterton. Yesterday. A young man, named Ernest Phillip;'., aged 24. was drowned in the Wharctoro (reek, Kahutara, on Sunday. Deceased iiii.i a mate were bathing, When the forr.ici suddenly sank. Several attempt-* were made to recover the body, but it was not found till late in the evening. The body was taken to Feathcrston. SUICIDE AT INVERCARGILL. Invcrcargill, Yesterday. Duncan Dundas, ag«l sixty, a bachelor, committed suicide by shooting himself through the head in' the Riverton Council Chambers on Saturday night. He was in ill-health. DROWNED IN A WATER RACE. Greymouth, Yesterday. •Tames Walker, a young married man with two children, was found drowned in the Hoehstetter Company's head rac?. He was employed in driving an oil engine for the pumps. It is supposed 'ie had a sudden seizure and fell into three feet of water.
