GERMAN WAR LOAN. KRUPPS CONTRIBUTE. Received 1, 10.55 p.m. i London, March 1. Krupps contributed thirty millions to the new war loan. LOOKING. FOR MONEY IN AMERICA. Received 1, 10.55 p.m. New York, March 1. It is reported that Germany is endeavouring to float a large loan, probably among her sympathisers in the United States.
FIGURES FROM THE BUDGET. ARMY RATIONS REDUCED. Amsterdam, February 28. The German Imperial Budget asks for an extraordinary expenditure of 10,042,342 thousand market (502 million sterling), for which 10,000,000 thousand marks is the estimated revenue. The extraordinary budget is for £80,499,218 and it is proposed to supply the deficiency by means of a loan. The estimated ordinary revenue shows an increase of £25,906,450 and the expenditure an increase of £25,900,450 and the "xpenditure an increase of £IOB.003,i>G9. There is no provision for war loan redemption as the method must be settled after the war.
The Vorwaerts says that the sale o; bread in the canteens to prisoners o( war'is forbidden. Prisoners are not allowed more bread than civilians. Copenhagen, February 28. The bread ration for the German army has been considerably reduced. KAISER NOT READY FOR PEACE. Parrs, February" 28. The Kaiser, in a speech in Poland, said: "The enemy must be completelv overthrown. Then I shall dictate with the help of my soldiers and their bayonet points."
