HIGH COMMISSIONER'S GABLE. . , , Wellington, Last Night. The Premier lias received the following from the High Commissioner, dated London, March 1, 2 a.m.: — The War Office announces that the casualties to-day were:—Officers: Killed 10, -wounded 3. Men: Killed 305, wounded 560, missing 60; taken prisoners, 0; rejoined, 3. Paris reports that the enemy has bombarded Soissons, firing 200 small shells. In the Champagne district the Allies made a marked advance along the wholb fighting fronts an(i north of Perthes we repelled a and retained the works taken on the previous day. ,We extended our occupying new trenches. The Allies gained ground in all the woods between Perthes and Beausejour. The gains north and north-' west of Beausejour were 2000 metres of trenches yesterday, and this was considerably enlarged to-day. In a Bingle trench the enemy left o.yer 200 dead. In Argorine the Allies* have taken 300 metres of trenches by a brilliant infantry attack. In Vosges, 'north of Chapelotte, a lively German attack was repulsed. . ... The High Commissioner reports, under date London, February 28, 6.50 p.m.— Paris reports that at Dixmude, Belgium, the artillery demolished two enemy earthworks, infantry occupying s a farm on the right bank of the Yser. An aviator threw a bomb on the marltime railway station at Osterid. In a fresh bombardment of Rheims sixty shells were fired, partly at the Cathedral. In the Champagne district two German earthworks were taken. Ground was gained at several points, and prisoners taken. The total enemy surrenders during the last ten, days have been over 1000.

The High Commissioner reports from London on March 1, at 3.35 a.m.: —

OPetrograd reports that on the left hank of the Niemen and north of Grodno the fighting is .increasing ; in intensity, and has been carried far beyond the fortifications. The attacks of both sides; are supported by heavy artillery.*' Heights and villages constantly change hands.

In an assault on one hill th» Russians captured Six guns and several hundred prisoners. The artillery action at Ossowiee continues.

The/enemy, being reinforced, has reentered Przasnysz. Desperate fighting ensued for possession, and the Russians recaptured the town. A large number of German defenders surrendered. Elsewhere in the same region Russian progress is important. The enemy abandoned supply columns and wounded. The Russians are gallantly striving to develop their successes. Sixty-eight officers and 0400 Germans were made prisoners. . On the Eastern Galicia front, at Jas.sinovetz and Roznatow the Russians severely defeated the Anstrians in forest fighting, and captured 4000 prisoners.
