On Friday, 19th inst., we held our first sale in the Matau district in Messrs Matthews, Gamlin and Co.'s yards (by their kind permission), when \vu had a good yarding of 3328 sheep and 120 head of cattle,, of which 2737 sheep and 80 head of cattle \v=rc disposed of. There was a very large attendance of the public, bidding being brisk from tli e start, and the. sale was a very successful one. We offered on account of Mr. G. L. Young, of Matau (proceeds to go to the Belgian Relief Fund), 11 lambs, which were sold at 4s 6d each to Mr. .lames Wallace. We also offered one lamb, on account of Mr. G. L. Young, .prorceds to go to the same fund, which elicited very keen compaction, being sold and re-sold as follows: Mr V.H.
