Since writing the above, I understand our Huirangi friends hare most "onerously decided to forego .their annual settlers piemc, an institution of over 40 years' standing, so as to help us'with our Picnic. Needless to say, tlieir action has been most favorably commented on and we anticipate that the Lenporton-llui-rangi-Sentry Hill picnic will be on- of the biggest affairs ever held here. It -s proposed to hold the. picnic on the Wiitara racecourse, opposite the Lepnorton railway station. < -Harvest thanksgiving services wore held in the Methodist' Church on Sunday last, the Rev Reader, of Stratford, being the officiating clergyman, at well attended services. Several paddocks of wheat grown in , this district have been secured in fine, , condition. Harvesting operations in | general have been most successful this autumn, owing to the fine weather T understand thtat Mr E. Harris h-'s disposed of his farm to Mr HoiK-s of Stratford, at a substantial figure.^
