WAXGANCI XOTES. (L'y "Moturoa.") Wanganui, Wednesday. To-day the "Wangunui racing carnival will open wii'i tny iir.it day of tin: Wanganiii docsey Club's autumn meeting. ' i'vuiay wi'il M:e tin; \\aiu,.;n.:i '.■ Totting ijlui) nu'i'iiiig 1.1 a;-i,M,a, .::: : Sntunia\- w. i.l. devoted to gallops, and tin' following Monday to trots, .-id or which makes u,i a t< mpl.ng s;an,l\viL-h of sport which should upp;-al to all turf patron.?. l"ir»t day-.' am ptauces are fairly good at liotli gatherings, and winner.; appear to V.c we,l concealed. The Wanganui Cup has lilhd with ten liov-cs,' Hie following being the likely : iai'Lci'i and tVir riders:--Kcwi iPoto, 8.7 (0 Mcl'ai'tcn); Indigo, 5.7 if-.towe); Kiliain. B.~> (U Wilson). Jlvron, 8.2 (\V. Young); Rinaldo, H.D (0. Price): Uohlsii-.e. 7.K! (C. Browne); Marshal McDonald. 7.3 (Graham); Moutoa Girl, (i.lfl (11. young); Chaminade, C.S (0. Clarke); and Master Lupin, (i a (A. Reed). ]{e\vi l'oto lias not been seen on the tracks at Wanganiii ftp to time of writing j (noon on Wednesday), but is said to he . in good nick . Xo doubt he will carry j a lot of TararoVki money, but ho has yet to prove his ability to get to the end of | u mile and three-c|iiarters, and this i scribe cannot see him beating a 'proved j stayer like Indigo at Jiful wiH'Kj Indigo galloped stromily on Tuesday,; but was not bustled this (Wednesday) | morning. He looks very fit, and on j X.Z. Cup and Wellington Cup form i must be seriously considered I 1 Good reports come to hand of Kilrain's i work, but he has not attracted much attention heic. Byron has few friends, | but the next pair, Rinaldo and Goldsize, | 1 liave been galloping 'brilliantly and their chances are highly esteemed. Both put 1 n strong work this morning and finished I well. Rinaldo looks an improved lsor<e since racing at Ilawcia. Of the light- j weights Moutoa Girl is most discussed, though tlii! writer was favourably imi •pressed by Chaminade's gallop this morning. Thfl Tarmiaki horse will lose nothing hv having R. J. M-ason's apprentice, Clarke," in the saddle. Those who saw him pilot Phosphorous in the Taranaki Cup will agree that he is a good horseman. The fittest horses appear to be Indigo, Rinaldo and Goldsize. Postillion, with much the worst of the ' weights, accounted for Ardent this morning, and gained many friends for the Flyins Handicap. It 'i« stated that the black horse will be ridden by W. Young, for whom .the Fordell crack galloped generously at Ilawera. Bimeter is being boomed here, and is certainly doing fine work. Emperador also showed up well this morning, easily accounting for Banksia and Dinner Gong over six furIcngs. Banteia went well, but Dinner Gong was almost as belated as the call to tucker in a fifteen shilling boardinghouse. Belasco, another Flyirg Handicap candidate, did not run pleasingly, nor did 'Glenroy or Playoff. If Postillion gallops kindly he. will be prominent, as will Emperador and Bimetev. It. looks like producing a great finish. 0£ the hurdles engaged at the meeting Xaupata, Styrax and Tirohanua iiave been showing the best track form. Kew jumped badly this morning, screwing and stopping at every obstacle. Naupata has fined down considerably : i-ince racing at the Egmont meeting. I Leonta galloped a mile this morning, 1 hut is very hig and "blew" liadly. On track form' Fair Rosamond and Invader should both beat the Fordell horse in the Stewards' Handicap. Rlackheart, a juvenile candidate, moved attractively, as did Canella, Tf Bisogiv runs un to Taranaki Stake form he should give the better of the pair a good 'go." Ooldstream is spoken of as a likelv one in the AViritoa Handicap and Fortify should also run well with 7.7.
