BELGIAN RELIEF. THE PREMIER'S VIEWS. Wellington, Last Night. The Prime Minister stated to-day that the Government is going fully into the question of providing relief for distressed Belgians. Me Massey asked the Governor to communicate, with the Home authorities for reliable information as to the exact position, and this has now been done. , Until this information is forthcoming the Government will not move in the matter. It was of the utmost important that every care should be taken that none of the help intended for the Belgians should be diverted to the Germans, and from this point of view the countenance and co-operation of the Imperial Government was absolutely essential. STATE AID FAVORED.
Wellington, Last Night. The Ashburton Borough Council held ii special meeting to-day and resolved to telegraph the Premier supporting the Mayor of Dunedin's appeal to the Government to vote £25,000 per month for the relief of the Belgians.
