MURDER CHARGE.

ADELAIDE ROAD TRAGEDY. AM ARREST EFFECTED AT " *' FEILDING. A sequel to the tragedy at a fruit ' shop in Adelaide roac, WeiiingLou, where a Chinaman was done to death in September last, occurred at Feildillg on Friday morning, in the arrest of Charles Harvey, on suspicion of being" concerned in the affair. He was brought ' before the Court in the afternoon; and charged with the crime, Messrs. J. G," Cobbe and E. H. Fisher, J.P's., being or tiie Uencli. Sergeant Willis asked that the accused be remanded to appear at ■ tha Wellington Court in eight days' time. 'A remand was granted accordingly'. The accused is described as looking like a seaman. He is very strongly built, and of medium height. = v The circumstances of the case haVe not yet faded from the minds of the ' public (says the New Zealand Times), At 1.5 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, Constable Wilson noticed a light in a, room at thi l back of the small shop keps- ' by' Wong' Way Clxing, and on looking: through the window he saw the soles ' of a' man's boots, the wearer of which was evidently lying on the floor. Finding the front door locked, lie proceeded down the right-of-way which separates th e premises irom a bakfcry next door. Receiving no reply to a knock, iie»cn- ■ tered the building, and, passing through a small room at the rear, found Clung lying dead on the floor of the kitchen, with his head shockingly injured, apparently by some blunt and heavy instrument. The conditions in the shop indicated that a struggle had taken place, and the suggestion was that rob- • bery had prompted the murder, air money had bc"\ taken from the till. A verdict of wilful murder was returned at the inquest. Energetic investigations by the detective force for some timefailed to supply a clue, and after several weeks had elapsed the authorities offered a reward of £IOO for information that would lead to the conviction of the murderer.
