THE TARANAKI PETROLEUM COMPANY, LTD.
(To tlie Editor.) Sir, —I am, or was, a shareholder in the above company, holding twenty shares (08000/5SOOi)). I left New Zealand in 1907, and wrote repeatedly to the secretary of the company at various intervals, without ever receiving a reply or acknowledgment. The last letter was written by me eighteen months ago. None of my letters were ever returned by the postal authorities. I lately, by chance, obtained some literature, by which I see the company has been liquidated, and would like to know my position with regard to the above shares. I presume some arrangement was made to safeguard the interests of absent shareholders. I am not in possession of any address other than that of the liquidator ("Box 145. New Plymouth"). I am writing them direct, and would be much obliged if you would accord publication to this, to ensure the attention of those in New Plymouth who may be charged with the discharge of the affairs of the Taranaki Petroleum Company. I may say there arc other shareholders here in the same position as myself, who would be of publication. —I r.:n etc., MATTHEW DAWSON. 384 High street, West Maitland, New South Wales. [From inquiries made relative to the above, it appears that our correspondent was in arrear with calls on his shares. Due notices were sent to him at the last address recorded in the share register (Glenfern, N.S.W.), but these notices returned through the Dead Letter Office, and the shares were forfeited after the usual notices had been sent. We understand that the liquidator has notified Mr. Dawson of the above facts. -Ed.]
