TARAXAKI DISTRICT COMMITTEE. The Taranaki District Committee met last night, when there were present: Messrs. E. F_ Blnndell (chairman), Weston, Gray, Sole, Webster, McL«od, Eraser, Chaney, and King. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs. Budge, Pitt; Good, and Standish. A llawcra trainer was cautioned for scratching a horse without authority. A trainer's and jockey's license was cancelled for misconduct.
TARAXAKI JOCKEY' CLUB. The T..T.C. Committee mot subsequently, the same gentlemen beinr sent, with the exception of "Mr. Gray. Two new members were elected, and two resigned. It was decided to make the same donation as was made last year to the I'tikcknra Park linard_ Several matters relating to the improvement of tlic course and property were brought forward and discussed, and small sub-committees set up in connection therewith. It is probable that the elub will erect ornamental iron gates at the entrance to the course, and j further reduce the hill in front of tha ! stewards' stand. | The secretary reported that the reant autumn meeting was financially the best meeting ever held by the club. The excursion train from Wanganui had I proved a success, and the club would ! not be called upon to pay up the guarantee.
NOTES. The Opunake Racing Club has been granted the use of the Egmont Club's starting barrier for its meeting on March 17. The Egmont Racing Club's Summer meceting resulted in a profit of approximately. £BOO. The Egmont Racing Club is considering the advisableness of currying out several improvements, including tl"e erection of a publican's booth, a trainers' stand, and the lining of'the roof of the public dining rooms. These susgestions have been referred to a sub-com-mittee, consisting of Messrs. Adamson, Good, and Tonks, with power to act. At a committee meeting of the Egmont Racing Club on Saturday evening, "Messrs. R. H. Xolan and J. Gray were nominated delegates to the District Committee at Xew Plymouth, and Mr. Xolan delegate to the Xew Zealand Conference. It was mentioned that Mr. Xolan was expected to return to the Dominion before the club's May meeting. . I
