Sandison, of Ohura, e\plains itself: —- "Dear Sir—A largely-attended conference was held at Stratford to-day between settlers avpreseatatmj o'f the Ohura Comity Council and District, and the Stratford Chamber of Commerce and other local bodies, when Mr W. Sandison, of Oiuira, occupied the chair . Resolutions were carried that representations be made through you to the Hon. -Minister of Public Works and the Hon. Postmaster-General concerning the following matters:—

"Firstly.—The urgent necessity of completing formation of the Oiiura lead on the Pararata Saddle. The conference "urges that the notice of the Hon. Minister be directed to: (11 that the Ohura road is the lrt'.iin arterial road connecting Taranaki with Auckland. (2) Jhat money is available and unexpended on the estimates for the current year, and unless immediate action is taken another year will elapse before this urgent work can be completed. (3) That such work can c-nly bo effected (profitably during tho summer months, which are now rapidly drawing to a close.

"Second—That the attention of the Hon. Postmaster General be drawn to the necessity of establishing telephonic communication liotwcoii Tahoni find Tatu. The rapid development of the district demands such telephone extension, and in view of the fact that the distance betwe?n the two places is oniv eighteen the conference was emphatically of opinion that such workshould he put in hand without delay. ill you kindly oonvev these representations to the Hon. 'Ministers?"
