WHEAT AND FLOUR. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright London, February 14. Tlie wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,295,000 quarters for the Continent, 2,805,000 quarters, Atlantic shipments 831,000 quarters, Pacific 73,000 quarters. The total to Europe is 1,440,000 quarters, including Jmlia, 7000 quarters, and the Argentina ■143,000 quarters.

(Note: Quotations, unless otherwise, specified, are average market prices on spot):— Meat is in good demand for all de'scriptions and prices are advancing. Mutton— I The market is very firm. Canterbury is not quoted, as there is no supply on hand. North Island is quoted at 5 11-lGd, ewes s}d. Lamb. —There is a good demand for everything offering. Canterbury is not quoted; other than Canterbury, 73d. Beef. —The market is "very firm owing to short supply of chilled. New Zealand hindquarters Gid, fores Od, chilled hinds, 7id, fores, Ggd. Butter. —The market is quiet, and at the decline prices are irregular. Danish 138s to 140s, New Zealand 134s to 130s, unsalted, 13Gs to 140s, Australian, 132s to 140s, Argentine, 132s to 1345,

Cheese.—The market was Arm until about the middle of the week, but closed rather quiet. Canadian is quiet; white and colored, 88s to 90s. New Zealand is quiet; white and colored 87s to 89s. The English Cheddar market is firm owing to the supply running short; present quotations, 91s to 90s. Australian, white and colored, 85s to SBs. Tlie Tongariro lias arrived, but has not yet commenced discharging dairy produce o n account of the congested state of the dock sheds.

Hemp.—The market is firm and prices continue to advance. Further advances may take place if the rate of freight is raised as is anticipated. Good fair on spot is quoted at ,1'29, fair £27 10s, fair current, Manila £3. For forward shipment, good fair, £2B 10s, fair £27; fair current Manila £32 10s. The output from Manila for the week was 20,000 bales.

Wheat.—The market is quieter and buyers more reserved. Canadian G3s, American 03s in any position, Argentine G2s. These prices are offered for January to March shipments.

NEW PLYMOUTH HIDE, SKIN, WOOL AND TALLOW SALES. Messrs L. A. Nolan and Co. report as follows: — Our fortnightly sale of the above took place in our Gill street store on Wednesday, the 10th. The usual complement was particularly keen for all lines offered and an all round rise was noticeable. Hides again rose sharply, fully one pensold up 12kl per lb. The latter price we have ever attained.. Lambs' wool sold up to 12Jd per lb. Thel atter price was obtained for six bales on account of Mr 11. Western of Bell Block, and also for two bales o n account of Mr 11. W. Saxton, Carrington road. These lines in addition to being clean were short and bright. Other lines at from lid to 11 Jd were longer in staple and a I little, stained. Seedy lambs wore also keenly competed for, making Old. Fleece sold up to lljd, bush wool 9:|d, to lOd per lb., as against B}d and 8i last month. Sheepskins sold up to QJd, lambs, from 9d to Old. Tallow showed a rise on last I month's rates of fully 20s per ton. Sundries sold at usual rates.
