A London cablegram states tii.it Priiico Albert, second son of His Majesty King George, a midshipman, lias rejoined 11.M.5. Collingwood.

A London cablegram announces tli.it, in recognition of hw services to the nation during the present war, ViceAdmiral Sir John Jcllicoe, in command of the Vortill Sea Fleet, has been created a Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath.

Mr. R. H. Nicholls, of the Public Works Department, Stratford, has been transferred to Auckland. Mr. Nicholls was a keen worker in the Methodist Church, and previous to his departure to Auckland was the recipient of a Methodist hymnal from the Junior Endeavorers and a travelling rug from the church members.

Sergeant A. J. Williams, of the 12th (Nelson) Company of the Canterbury Infantry Battalion, who was woundeii in action at the Suez Canal, was a member of the New Zealand Defencs Staff before going to the front. Sergeant Williams, who is 32 years of age, began Ilia military career 13 years ago, when he joined the 4th Battalion'of the Rifle Brigade, and served with it in the South African campaign.

The death is reported of Mr. Frederick Bull, an old and highly-respected resident of Napier, at the age of 74. He arrived in New Zealand from London in 1803, and after being engaged in surveying and flax-dressing, he joined the Public Works Department. After service in the Survey Department, Mr. Bull was appointed Receiver of Land Revenue at Napier, a position he occupied till several years ago, when he went Home with his wife. Returning to Napier, Mr. Bull took up the position of truant inspector under the Ilawke's Bay Education Board, and since his resignation of it lie had lived in retirement. Deceased was a member of the Masonic brotherhood, a lover of music, and a keen bowler. For over twenty years he was a member of the managing committee of the Wellington Orchestral Society( and also wrote a number of operettas and burlesques, which were performed by the Wellington Christy Minstrels. As a 'celloist he enjoyed the unique distinction of being the only left-handed player in New Zealand.
