PERJURERS SENT TO GAOL.-: I!v Telegraph.—Per Press Association, Auckland. February 12. In the Supremo Court, William Maule, who committed perjury in an affiliation ease by denying that he spent a night with a young woman in an Auckland hotel, was ordered eighteen months' reformative, treatenmt. •J'i ; . Lockhead. who had given evidence supporting Maule's story, and admitted his perjury, was sentenced to six months' re forma tvo treatomut.
A PRISONER DISAPPEARS. Auckland, February 12. In the Supreme Court, Patrick Guiii. 10 vears old, charged with tlicft and nvson at Rawone, failed to appear though on hail in two sureties of £260 each, provided bv the prisoner's father, John- Gnnn. and his brother-in-law. William Robert O'Brien, of Auckland. Accused vanished before the case was called on Tuesday, and diligent search failed to reveal his whereabouts. The .lodge said lie was satisfied the suretic; had done evervthiug reasonable to ■;>rodm>e accused. Under the circumstances he would not estreat the re-er-anisnmv-, and inflict such serious loss unon them.
