ROWDIES IN UNIFORM. . TROOPERS SENT TO GAOL. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association ( Wellington, February -ill. In the Police Court to-day, Trooper John James Clayton, concerned in tho brawl in Manners Street on Saturday night, was lined £5 or a month's imprisonment for resisting arrest by a constable and £2 or seven days' imprisonment for disorderly conduct while drunk, and ordered to pay. £2 15s, the damage to a cab in which he was taken to the lock-up. The alternative in thp latter case was seven days* imprisonment.

Robert Porteous Brown, an ex-trooper ' who was arrested at the same time as Clayton, was also severely dealt with. He was sentenced to two months' imprisonment for assaulting a constable, fined £3 or one month's imprisonment tor using obscene language, and £5 or one month's imprisonment for assaulting a civilian who was assisting the police.
