LAND BALLOT.
FOR MAIN TRUNK LANDS. V ■By Telegraph.— Per Press Association. Taihape, Fehruary 11. sections, aggregating over 300 d acres, in the Wellington Crown Lands i istriet, were balloted" for at Ohakunq yesterday. There were 385 applicants.. Xho choicest allotment, 140 acres neat the Mnngawihero River, on the Raetihitarapara road, was alloted to Edward Lasry (Ohaluine); there were 135 applicants. The results of the other ballots were: Seventy-seven acres between vi aiourii and Nina, on tho south main coach road, V. li. Yeomans (Marton); six applicants. The adjoining section of 100 acres went to J. A. Read (Ohalame), there were 05 applicants. Ninetyone acres, five miles from Oha'kune, went to O. W. Edhouse (Ohakunc); " VVOIV 545 applicants. A section or laO acres at Whercinaki fell to T. 'T- Bowler {Raetihi); there, were two applicants. Another section of 745 *- acres 24 miles inland from Eaetihi, in the South Waimarino Block, fell to A, i 1). Wright (Ohakune); there were twelve applicants. A few years ago the above ' Jam! had a very inferior reputation.
