TARANAKI PRESBYTERY.
The Taranaki Presbytery met last Thursday in the Presbyterian Hall, ilawera, fiev. Mr Mclvor, .Moderator, pro teni. Apologies for absence were received from the Revs, Welsh and l'attison and -Mr. (i. Mactiregor, and sustained. An elder's commission in favor of Mr. Butler, of Normanby, was sustained. The Moderator briefly welcomed the Rev. Mr. Lowery, the recently inducted minister of Eltlnun, who expressed liis I appreciation. I The Rev. Mr. -Shore was elected 1 Moderator of Presbytery for the ensu-i ing year on the motion of the Revs. | Howes and Rosevcare. Mr. Shore touk the chair and thanked the Presbytery. ,
The Rev. Mr. Roseveare reported that a district camp was to be held in New | Plymouth on the 20th instant, and lie was appointed, in his chaplainary ■ capacity, to represent the Presbytery. The treasurer submitted the Presliy-. terv balance-sheet: Receipts by assessments, £23; collections, £2 ISs Od. Expenses: Clerk's fee, £l2 12s; travelling expenses, £l2 13s Id; stamps, telephone, etc.,. £'2 14s; dr. balance, £2 Is lUd; but there would be a slight I credit after outstanding assessments' were paid ill.—The balance-sheet, was | adopted. j A letter was received f-.im the seere-1 tarv of the Normanby congregation! dealing with the unwieldy character of this parish, and suggesting that Mokoiu be detached. After some discussion it was agreed, on the motion of Messrs Ilalliwell and Howes, to refer the matter to the lla-wer-n, session, to see whether Mokoia could be united with llawera. The Revs. Shore (auin.) Howes, and T.owcry, with an elder from their scsions, and Revs, l'attisou (com.) and Howes, with an elder etch, and Mr. Ireland Iwere appointed seonimissions to visit Opuiiake and 'Waverley respectively, ami report to next 'Presbytery. The Kev. Mr. Pattison was appointed to receive, examine, and report on Ilomc I Missionary sermons to next meeting. The clerk reported that Mr. J Stewart had been transfcm-U to llobsonville, and that Mr. Kirjsuu succeeds him. I The meeting closed ijjith tie; beneilic-! ifion.—Star. . - I
