I LONDON WOOL SALES. I The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from tlielr London house under date, Gtli inst.: — London wool sales have closed. The market is strong and the position unchanged. LONDON MARKETS, London, February 8. :At the wool sales the following was sold:—Home 123,000 hales, Continent 3000 baits; held over, IG,BOO bales. The arrivals for next series total 277,000 - bales, and. tile forwarded 130,000 bales; available, 155,000 bales. Silver, 22 i)-10d per oz. - Copper—Spot £62 15s to £O3, three months £O3 os to £O3 10s; electrolytic, £O7 10s to £OB. Tin—Forward £155 to £155 10s. Wheat—The market is dull and occasionally 3d easier. BACON ON HOME MARKET. Wellington, Last Night. The Department of Agriculture lias received the following cablegram from the High Commisisoner, dated February 8: 'Bacon market is firm, together with good demand for all descriptions, and prices advancing until the middle of January, when official quotations were: Irish, per cwt., 80s to 87s; Danish, 85s to SSs; Canadian, 74s to 78s; Swedish, S4s to SSs. Since then the trade has fallen off very much, on account of the liigh prices, with the result that the market is dull and unsettled. Prices havo declined, and present quotations are: Irish, 81s to SSs; Danish, 70s to 80s; Canadian, 70s to 7Ss; Swedish, 75s to 775. The downward movement is not likely to last. A decrease in production in Denmark is anticipated on account of the high prices of pig feed. The ham market does not show very much fluiietuation. Present quotations: English, 100s to 110s; Irish, 02s to 112s; Canadian, 72s to 70s; American, 07s to 70s.
