COASTAL ROADS.

To tlio Editor, Sir, —I have read in the "Daily Isews" with interest "Lively Ratepayer's" letter, reporting the progress of settlers by coming under tlie Taranaki County Council's control with tlieir roads, and also advising Okato district to do the same anil get out of the rut. In reply to "Lively Ratepayer," I find in Saturday's issue of the Daily News a letter with signature in full, W. A. Corbett, Saunders Road, Okato. This writer is very well acquainted with these particular mads, C'arrington, Saunders, and Oxford roads, where Mr W. A. Corbett lives, and lias used for vcars. With vour permission, mav I ask Mr W. A. CorbHt if he has not at different. times bad to work on these roads, patching them up and making them passable. giving his own time, pick ami shovel, horse and dray, doing work whicn the Okato Road Hoard was unable, to do. out of the rates received from him and other settlers mi these roads? Does Mr W. A. Corbett know of any scheme or up-to-date method liavtng liee„ worked out by the Ok ato linad Boaril in the near future, as well as in the present, so as to cope with the increasing traffic on these roads, such as to make them passable for six horse waggons, general public horse and cart, as well as motor ears, and in the very near future, motor waggons. It. certainly would interest, ratepayers to know Mich points as these from Mr W. A. Corbett, who, from his remarks, already wishes some people to believe that, lie is just the brainy man and tells "Lively llatepaycr'' to mind his own liii-in• , while lie lr.iiuls the road, or tries to keep others from minding it. rnmelv. the Tiiramiki County Council, their etiieient stall' and modern roads plant, il stead of the Okato Road Hoard, without the funds, and no road plant, but plenty of -.: iv how il should I)' 1 done. In eonelu. ion. 1 would like to ask Mr W. A. Corbett if he was not one of !I! e pet it ioll i to help merge ille Okato I,'oad iioaid into the Taranaki County Council.—T ir.ii. etc.. FitOfiEKSS.
