"LIVELY RATEPAYER" REPLIES.
To the Editor. Sir,—"Lively Ratepayer" is very pleased to notice that he has been able to wake up someone on the rocky road between Puniho road and Okato, namely, Mr. W. A. Corbctt, who signs bis name boldly as a Britisher, but in unUritisli spirit tries to make it appear that the "Lively Ratepayer"' is not a Britisher or as good as himself because he has not signed his name, but written under a noni de plume instead. Mr. Corbctt is not aware, then, tiiat this is a free conntrv, with a free Press, and a- «crihe is allowed the privilege of criticising any public body, even under a nraii ile plume, if be thinks fit, without asking any old "fogey's' permission —I notice that Mr. W. A. Corbctt wishes to be identified as one. "Lively Ratepayer" still dares to criticise any public body that docs not feel inclined to wake up and get out of the same old rut. Surely Mr. W. A. Corbctt, is not proud of the worst-kept, roughest and rottcnest piece of road for miles around Okato. which runs right past his farm! Tn conclusion, as "Lively Ratepayer' travels over this public road it is his business and the business of all ratepayers to try and improve its condition, through the public Press. But it is not Mr. \V. A, Corbctt's business, if the proprietor of the "Royal .Anns elleese factory allows Daily Xews' cuttings of public interest to he posted there, it being private property. Still satisfied that progress will begin under the management of tint Taranaki Countv Council.—T am, etc.. LIVELY RATEPAYER, l'uniho, (!/ -/1
