UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS.
DISTRICT RESULTS COMPARED. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Some discussion has been current lately in Wellington and Christclmrcli concerning the meagre results obtained in recent years at the National Scholarship examinations by pupils of the local secondary schools. The following com- ! pnrisons for the four University districts have been made, and disclose a remarkable success on the part of Auckland Grammar School. During the past six years Otago University district obtained the highest number of University entrance sholarships (08), of which 30 were gained bv the Dunedin Boys' High School. The/Auckland University district conies next with 48 successes, of which 42 are credited to the Auckland Grammar School. Victoria University district, including Nelson and Wanganui, obtained 38, of which ten were gained at Wellington College,•Canterbury University district obtained 35, which were fairly evenly distributed amongst a number of high schools ;n that district.
In the 1014 University entrance scholarship examinations Auckland secured 12, all but one coming from the Grammar School. Otago secured eight, two coming from the Duncdin Boys' High School, and three from the Duncdin Girls' High School. Victoria district gained seven, three being credited to Wellington College boys, two to the Wellington Girls' College, and two were won at Nelson.
