FARM AND DAIRY.
Tile Rangitikei Advocate loams on excellent authority that the Wellington Meat Export Company have decided to proceed with the erection of works at Kakariki, The works will cost between £50,000 and £60,000. A good site nas already been purchased by tlie company with a railway siding thereon. has tried an experiment of growing horse beans on his farm. Mr. Taylor was previously farming at Yaldhurst, and whilst there lie took with him a quantity of the seed of the horse bean, 1 which is grown extensively in the Old Country. He tried the seed at Yaldhurst with successful results. He recently planted the seed at Lagmhor, and has been just as fortunate. He is of opinion that he can partially fallow the land and at the same time take a crop I of horse beans from it—that is, if lie ■ plants the rows 28 inches apart, which ' he has been in the habit of doing. j
