SHOPKEEPERS' SWINDLED.
BY VALUELESS CHEQUES. By Telegraph.—Per Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. Charles Hector Dudley pleaded guilty to-day to forging and uttering nine cheques. He victimised a number of tradesmen by buying rurnilure, male and female clothing, and arranging for the purchase of a motor-car. In several cases he received change from the valueless cheques. Accused, a young man. said lv had been drinking heavily nrd couM not understand why the shopkeepers had taken cheques. One witness admitted that Dudley was under the influence of liquor. He was committed for sentence.
