PRODUCE SLUMP AT 'FRISCO. By Telegrarb.—Per Press Association Wellington, Last Night. The New Zealand Trade Commissioner at 'Frisco has cabled to the Department of Agriculture as follows: "Meat, butter, and cheese market very depressed, and likely to remain so." AUCKLAND WOOL SALES. HIGH PRICES REALISED. Auckland, Last Night. There never have been wool sales in Auckland more keenly contested than the second series of the 1914-15 season, which were held to-day. Buyers numbered thirty, representatives of England, France, America, and New Zealand. Most of the bidding came from English buyers, (but at least one French representative {was operating extensively. The buoy?ancy of the market surprised the most ? optimistic of farmers, and brokers valuations were substantially exceeded all the i;way through. Generally speaking, the 'prices showed an all-round increase of ;' about 2d per lb. as cravpared with those if which ruled at the second sates last ? season. The total offerings were much i less than those of the corresponding ' sales of last year, 5920 bales as compared with 11,250. Taken as a whole, the wool was not in good condition. The following table gives a comparison of the prices at to-day's sale, as compared with; the sales in November last, last year's ] prices mentioned first: Fine half-bred I merino, lid to 12Jd, (12d to Hid); finej ' crossbred 10d to lid, (lHd to 13Jd); I Shropshire and Romney, lid to 12Jd,' (12d to 14d); medium crossbred, 9Jd to ] IOJd (1(M to 12^d); coarse crossbred and Lincoln, S.?d to IOJd, (Did to 13d). inferior log stained and cotted, Sd to BJd (!Hd to 10M); first pieces, 7Jd to 9d (8d to 10d); second pieces" and bellies, 5Jd to 6Jd, (5Jd to 7d); crutchings, 7d to BJd), (7d to BJd). locks, 4d to sd, (4d to 6d.)
